ACTOR

and her Children

by Rosie Glen-Lambert and Hailey McAfee

directed by Rosie Glen-Lambert

“I’m a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association. And as a mother, I mean, you get it, right?”

Inspired by Dana Loesch’s infamous appearance at a Town Hall following the Parkland shooting, And Her Children investigates America’s gun violence epidemic through the lens of those who are paid to defend the right to bear arms. Time holds still as our contemporary Anna Fierling is plummeted into a liminal space where the audience is a stand-in for her own troubled conscience. In this imagined space, she grapples with two gnawing questions: Has she been selfish? And will she keep her job?

“Hailey McAfee steps into the starring role of what is mostly a one-woman show — the execution is on a level that left the audience in a stunned state as if something percussive had hit them.”

Iphigenia in Splott

by Gary Owen

directed by Rosie Glen-Lambert

“Tonight, you all are here to give thanks to me.”

Effie is a vulgar, rage-filled young woman who spends her nights getting as drunk as she possibly can. She has little direction in life, and even less opportunity. But everything changes the night she meets Lee, a scarred soldier, who gives her a sense of hope. Unfortunately for Effie there are no fairytale endings in the South Wales district of Splott, and in the months following her night with Lee, we watch society fail her. Like Iphigenia, Effie is sacrificed. But unlike her Greek counterpart, she survives. We’re in Effie’s debt, and tonight she’s come to collect.

“Her portrayal of Effie is a whirlwind of intensity that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats from start to finish.”

Three Exorcisms

by Avery Deutsch

directed by Tyler Bremer

“Run piggy, run!”

It's 1566 and Nicole is possessed by the devil...and she's famous for it. It's tragic. It's worrisome. It's getting her a lot of strange attention from one very eager little nun, an old lady who thinks she's a teenager, and a soft-spoken stable boy. A play about trapping ourselves and trapping each other, and what it takes to get out.

“Hailey McAfee gives a powerful performance, rich, layered, and oozing with a sort of dark charisma necessary for such a role.”

Hedda Gabler

by Henrik Ibsen, adapted by Patrick Marber

directed by Hailey McAfee

“I will not make something that makes demands.”

Hedda is trapped in a new home with a new husband. She spends her time manipulating those around her and denying her pregnancy. But when old acquaintances come knocking on the Tesman’s door, the next two days are spent unraveling the past, evading the future, and firing General Gabler’s infamous pistols.

“Top of the list, if you can get a ticket is Hedda Gabler. Stripped down to an emotional high-tension wire with not a wasted movement or word, it deserves a huge audience.”

Here Comes the Night

by Lisa Kenner Grissom

directed by Hailey McAfee

“If don’t start over now, I’ll never get out! ”

When Olivia, a musician’s wife and climate science advocate, invites Maggie, an aspiring social media influencer, to spend the weekend with her while she has an at-home medication abortion, she doesn’t realize that her old friend is going to throw her wildly off course. These women of different generations are about to alter each other’s lives in ways they hadn’t expected or imagined. What happens when a woman’s right to choose becomes a litmus test for all of her life choices?

“Director Hailey McAfee blocks the abortion in an incredibly powerful and emotional way. To say I was breathless after that scene still feels like an understatement.”
